Dwan Banks, owner of Rapture Recordz, told the Houston Chronicle that when she pulled into the driveway of her home there was a fight taking place. She recognized one of the men as Doughbeezy, real name Tai Carr, because he's her son's friend.

"Get back in the car, you're being robbed!" he warned her.

By that time it was too late. The thieves forced Banks and her kids into her home. Banks recognized one of the thieves. He was a relative of an ex-boyfriend.

Despite being pistol whipped Doughbeezy managed to get to the trunk of his car and retrieve a gun. He shot and killed one of the thieves. The other one fled on foot, but was later caught by police at a nearby Wendy's restaurant. He was identified as 23-year old Marquez Romero Heckard.

The dead gunman's identity has not been released.

Doughbeezy posted, then deleted details of the incident on his Instagram page.

When the gunman got instructed to shoot me, he froze. When they tried to kidnap me in my own car, I was able to fight my way out the car before being pistol whipped. After being pistol whipped, my friend and her family pulled up and we all got instructed to go into the house and that's when God made a way for me to break loose and make it back to my trunk for my pistol. If I never was able to break away for my trunk, I wouldn't be here today telling you this story.

Stop and take a second to thank God for everything you have. And when you're done, take a moment to tell your family and the people close to you that you love them. My daughter will be born in a week and if it wasn't for God, I wouldn't be here to see her take her first breath. #Blessed

Paul Wall

Paul Wall, a friend of Doughbeezy's told Fox 26 he was happy the situation didn't turn out worse.

" I definitely see Doughbeezy as a hero for standing up for his friends, his family and his own life. And for protecting himself," Wall said. "Thank God we have the gun laws we do. He was able to have a gun on him."

Doughbeezy and his representatives have said he won't be commenting further on the case.

A spokesperson for the Houston Police Department says the case will go before a Harris County grand jury as a result of the deadly shooting.

Youth football coach convicted of raping 5 young boys and a disabled man

Philadelphia, PA-  It only took a jury 2 hours to convict 25-year old Leon Watson on several counts of sexual assault on boys ages 8 to 10 and on a disabled 21-year old man.

Watson volunteered as an assistant coach for a neighborhood football team and often allowed the members of the team to play at his house and to stay there while their parents were away. This enabled him to get close to his victims.

At the end of the trial, in which some of the victims cried through their testimonies, Assistant District Attorney Branwen McNabb gave her closing arguments: "The victims just wanted to play football...and he stole that from them," she said. "The defendant's reign of terror and abuses ends now."

The defendant's attorney, Catherine Berryman of the Defender Association of Philadelphia, tried to point to inconsistencies in the victim's testimonies. However, the jurors didn't buy her argument.

Watson was initially charged with 55 counts of sexual assault and related charges, but prosecutors decided to present only 16. He was found guilty on all 16 counts of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, sexual assault, indecent assault, and related offenses.

This isn't Watson's first time being accused of sex crimes. The Philadelphia Inquirer has learned that he was arrested five times when he was 16 for allegedly assaulting younger relatives including a 3 and 5-year old.

Gruesome: Members Of Drug Cartel Knights Templar Forced To Eat Enemies' Hearts As Initiation Rite

A vicious Mexican drug gang forced some members to eat the hearts of murder victims as part of a gruesome initiation rite to root out infiltrators, a government security said on Tuesday, citing eyewitness testimony.

For much of the past year, Michoacan, a mountainous, agricultural state in western Mexico, has been ravaged by fighting between drug gang henchman and vigilantes who took up arms against the cartels but have since splintered into violent factions.

A mid-December shootout between two rival groups that killed 11 people has reignited fears the government is failing to control the state after flooding it with federal troops and pressing vigilantes into a fledgling rural police force.

The renewed fighting in Michoacan comes as President Enrique Pena Nieto faces his deepest crisis since taking office, following the apparent murder of 43 trainee teachers by a drug gang working with corrupt police in neighboring Guerrero state.

The incident sparked widespread protests against the government, compounded by conflict-of-interest scandals enveloping the president and his finance minister. Pena Nieto was expected to discuss Mexico's chronic violence with U.S. President Barack Obama in Washington on Tuesday.

The main gangs operating in Michoacan, La Familia Michoacana, and later offshoot the Knights Templar cartel, were founded by Nazario Moreno, or "The Craziest One," a cultish crime boss who was finally killed in March 2014 after the previous government declared him dead in 2010.

Nazario Moreno

Interviewed on local television, Alfredo Castillo, Michoacan's federal security commissioner, denied cannibalism was widespread, but said there were various testimonies indicating heart-eating was part of a macabre initiation Moreno used to root out moles or test his men's loyalty.

"The ritual ranged from dismembering people they intended to kill to sometimes serving up the heart," Castillo said.

He did not elaborate on who provided the testimony and did not specify when and where the alleged initiation rituals took place. Castillo could not immediately be reached for comment.

More than 100,000 people have been killed in gang-related violence in Mexico since 2007.
